Compatibility
The following is a list of servers, hardware, and operating systems and their compatibility with eoStar and eoStar-related features.
Rutherford has tested and verified that the Workstations, Servers, and Configurations listed below provide a usable eoStar experience. Anything not listed on this page has NOT been tested and Rutherford cannot guarantee any reliable user experience. Workstations
The eoStar client application runs on workstations connected to a Windows Server running SQL Server via TCP/IP. Rutherford supports both 32 and 64 bit workstations.
Windows 7, 8, and 10
Minimum Specifications:
- 2GHz CPU, 2GB Ram, 80GB HD, 1024x768 Resolution
Recommended Specifications:
- 3GHz CPU, 4GB Ram, 80GB HD, 1280x1024 - 2560x1600 Resolution
Servers
The eoStar database resides on a Windows Server running SQL Server. Rutherford strongly recommends 64 bit servers, and we also recommend using dedicated servers for different services (SQL/TS/IIS). Hardware specifications vary per customer, contact Rutherford if you would like more details.

Web Servers
Rutherford utilizes web services to provide access to data within an eoStar database. The following are the current web services offered by Rutherford, as well as the recommended hardware and operating system for each.
Typically a customer will utilize a single web server for all their eoStar web services. Remember that as you add additional web services to your web server, you’ll want to be mindful of the available resources on your server. A good rule of thumb is to double your resources (CPU cores/memory) for each web service you want to run.
All of these web services currently run on any version of Windows running IIS 7 or greater.
- EoNetService - This web service provides the ability for eoMobile devices to send and retrieve data for an eoStar database. With eoNetService, it is recommended to have a balance between memory and processors for the best experience.
- Customer Web - This web service provides the ability for customers to enter orders online via their web browser. With Customer Web, it is recommended to provide additional processor speed and additional processing cores for the best experience.
- Supplier Web - This web service provides the ability for suppliers to run sales and inventory reports on their SKUs. With Supplier Web it is recommended to provide additional memory for best experience.

Note: Rutherford recommends running Web Servers on a server, but in some cases, a desktop operating system might function in place of a server. Please contact Rutherford about the best setup for your organization.
Web Apps
Rutherford utilizes web apps to provide access to data via the internet. A web app is a client-server software application which the client / user interface runs in a web browser.
The following web apps are currently offered by Rutherford:
- Customer App - This app provides the ability for customers to place orders online, rather than via telsell or a preseller.
- Supplier Reporting - This app provides the ability for suppliers to access depletion information directly from the distributor.
- Business Review - This app provides the ability for employees to see sales data.

Mobile Hardware and Compatibility List - Handhelds, Phones & Printers
The following is a list of hardware and hardware compatibility. eoMobile is also supported on both hi-res (640x480) and handhelds running in 240X320 mode.
The "Yes" under the Bluetooth Version column means that they are Bluetooth Capable; however, the version used is not known. A "No" means that it does not use Bluetooth.
- Note: VIP Handheld software removal will disrupt eoStar's ability to scan barcodes.
Resolutions
In October 2009, changes were made to accommodate the different resolutions available in mobile devices.
eoMobile is supported on the following devices (running in either portrait or landscape mode):
- QVGA 240x320
- VGA 480x640
- WVGA 480x800
- WQVGA 240x400
eoMobile is not supported on:
- SQUARE 240x240
- SQUARE QVGA 320x320
- SQUARE VGA 480x480
